The Treasure Valley still has a working local-news ecosystem, which is no small thing in 2026. The Idaho Statesman (McClatchy) is the daily newspaper of record for Ada County and the state's largest paper; the Idaho Press (Adams Publishing) is its Canyon County counterpart with strong Nampa, Caldwell, and West Ada coverage. BoiseDev is the leading independent digital newsroom in the Valley, with deep coverage of growth, development, business, and city hall. Idaho Capital Sun covers state policy from the State of Politics angle, and Idaho Education News follows public schools.

In broadcast: KTVB Channel 7 (NBC) and KIVI Idaho News 6 (ABC) lead the local TV news race; CBS 2 Idaho (KBOI) and FOX 9 (KNIN) round out the over-the-air newsrooms. Boise State Public Radio (NPR affiliate, KBSU/KBSX) provides daily and feature reporting and runs the StateImpact Idaho desk. For talk and music radio, the Valley has a deep AM/FM lineup — sports talk, classic rock, country, Christian, and Spanish-language stations.

Community discussion and neighborhood updates also happen on local subreddits, Nextdoor, and Facebook groups, and the city governments themselves push press releases through their own channels. The links below cover daily newspapers, digital newsrooms, public radio, TV stations, and a few of the niche outlets that round out local coverage.
